Behind this quiet laneway door lies our (by-appointment only) art facility. If you have not rediscovered us since the lockdowns (when we moved from Bay street to our private facility, come and say hello.😁 A few times a year, we hold a Stockroom exhibition day to make in-person general viewing available to the public over the day. Make sure to rsvp (info@portart.com.au) if there are certain artworks from our online galleries that you want to see there in person on the day. If you can't make this open day, you always have the option of booking a private viewing (on Zoom or in person, to see your choices on a photo of your wall).

We have had some more black and white paintings come into stock recently. Our section on Black & White, Monochromatic and Pastel choices of artwork is a great focused resource for those art lovers who like to keep a restrained palette within their decor plan at home or at the office. There are new additions to original artwork series which fit into this category and there have also been some more artworks chosen to be developed as a limited edition monochromatic giclee reproduction series. Many folks think of monochromatic as the same thing as black and white, however mono means one and chroma means colour, so one colour included amongst varying tones or values (plus or minus black and white - not colours as such), is still considered monochromatic in a painting.

This is a great way for art lovers/ collectors who are just starting out, to build a nice cohesive suite or art gradually. 🎨 Historically, the “Salon Style Hang” originated in the 17th Century in Paris for the annual French Royal Academy salon. Back in the day, a “Salon” was arranged to exhibit the best works by art students at the Royal Academy, alongside artworks of masters of the time. You felt pretty spiffy if you were invited to hang!!
